Gameday – Charlotte at Chicago

Charlotte Checkers (18-11-2-1) at Chicago Wolves (16-11-1-3)

  • The Checkers are 1-1 against Chicago, and this is their first visit to the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL.
  • This arena looks like the worlds largest Whitecastle from the outside.  Initially built in the 1970s, Allstate arena has been home to the Chicago Wolves since 1994, and I’m told it was once nicknamed “The Ashtray” from the days smoking was allowed in the bowl.  It’s also the home of DePaul men’s basketball, arena football, the WNBA and the WWE.
  • In two appearances, Murphy is 0-1 against Chicago, with a 3.16 GAA and 0.892 SV%.
  • John Muse, in his one game against Chicago, is 1-0, with a 0.00 GAA and 1.000 SV%.
  • Chicago goalie Eddie Lack is 1-1 against Charlotte.  He has a 2.54 GAA and  0.931 SV% against the Checkers.  Overall this season in 19 games played, he is 7-8-3, with a 2.56 GAA and 0.918 SV%.
  • In his last appearance against the Wolves, Mike Murphy was pulled in the first period in favor of John Muse, who stopped all of the shots he faced and ended up with the victory.
