The one about good news and bad news, mostly the latter…

The bad news is:

  • Justin Pogge allowed five goals last night in Wilkes-Barre.
  • The Checkers lost to the Baby Pens by a score of 6-3.
  • The REALLY bad news is in the first period alone, he let in four goals on only 13 shots.  This is a recurring theme for him against the Baby Pens.  We REALLY need Mike Murphy back from injury now!
  • Bobby Sanguinetti and Casey Borer left the ice with injuries.  The good news is both returned before the end of the game.  We need our defensemen!
  • Hershey won in regulation, putting them another two points ahead of us in the race for the second seed.
  • Worcester won, shutting out Manchester, so the Checkers still didn’t clinch a playoff spot.

The good news is:

  • The Checkers were able to score three goals.
  • Zach Boychuck, Jacob Micflikier and Bryan Rodney had multiple point nights (3A, 2G, 2A)
  • Pogge didn’t get into a fight, or get any PIMs.
  • Binghamton lost in regulation, keeping them from gaining any points in the race for second seed.
  • One more game on the road is all we have for the regular season.  After the game in Albany, the team will fly home for the final three games of the regular season.
  • Norfolk lost in regulation, keeping them three points and two games behind the Checkers.
  • Norfolk’s final five games of the regular season are on the road.
